About this project

W. Robinson & Sons has been a trusted name in the industry for over 91 years, supplying OEM products across the UK, Ireland, and Mainland Europe. As their business continued to grow, they knew it was time to upgrade their existing warehouse. The plan? Tear down the old structure and build a brand-new 27000sq ft double-height warehouse with a mezzanine floor, high bay racking, and two advanced dock levellers. Our goal was to make this a smooth transition while ensuring they could keep their operations running.

Challenges And Solutions

Since W. Robinson & Sons needed to keep trading throughout the project, we decided to tackle it in two phases. The first step was carefully demolishing the old warehouse from the inside out, removing all internal services before taking down the roof. This way, we kept the site safe and minimised disruption.

A key part of this project was the Portal Frame, which required 64 tonnes of steel. We teamed up with Complete Steel Fabrication, who did an amazing job bringing it to life. With cranes and tele-handlers, the steel framework went up smoothly, setting the stage for the new build.

To save time and money, instead of completely replacing the foundation, we poured a 150mm concrete slab over the existing one. This provided a strong, durable base while keeping the project moving efficiently.
